Sorry,Scooter Libby hasn't been convicted yet, nor has Cheney been Indicted and Convicted for exposing a CIA agent in order to get back at her husband for helping to prove that false information was being used by the adminstration in their zest for war.

There is a reason that she hasn't moved a single piece of legislation. Her party is not in power. Don't act as if this has nothing to do with it. After the next election, Republicans are going to have difficulty moving legislation too.

Because of our support for a corrupt, lying, incompetent, intelligence manipulating , warmongering, deceitful, warprofiteering scoundrel who is directly responsible for the unnecessary deaths of 2,500 US soldiers, the morbidity of 20,000 US soldiers, the unnecessary deaths of 100,000 innocent Iraqi citizens while simultaneously raping the treasury for his corporate cronies....The democrats are going to win big. Meanwhile Bush cronies at Enron (Ken Lay) indicted and convicted, Abramoff indicted and convicted, scooter libby indicted and convicted, Tom Delay resigns in shame before being indicted and convicted. The Bush Crime family is falling apart.

The Republican party will not stand for corruption anymore. These criminals have to go. ALL OF THEM!

If being an anti-Semite, a crazed ego maniac, or a flake that hits a law enforcement officer doing his or her job is what makes one "progessive," I can begin to understand why the GOP dominates politics at the state and federal level.

I personally think John lewis is the most progressive legislator from GA. (Even willing to get arrested to bring attention to the outrgaes in Sudan.) I don't see him swating at imaginary flies or punching police officers.

Re-electing someone repeatedly doesn't always make them a good elected official, regardless of color--see George Wallace, Strom Thurmand, Jesse Helms, Eugine Talmege, Herman Talmege, Lester Maddox, and Trent Lott.
For that matter taking a series of unpopular positions doesn't always make you progressive, sometimes it just makes you a wack--see James Traficant, Jerry Brown, and basically everyone in the previous paragraph.
I have no disdain for black political will...I just simply don't think Cynthia is a good legislator, and I didn't think her father had been for the last decade or so either.

White websites and blogs make it seem like everyone hates McKinney but never bother to explain how she's a six term Congresswoman.

Could you be more obvious in your disdain for the black political will? Besides the obvious question as to how she's a six termer when, as you pretend, basically everyone is fed up with her, do you know about McKinney's legacy in her district? The state? The country? It is so easy to appeal to latent racism and parrot the right-wing media attack while ignoring the demonstrable fact that McKinney is the most progressive Congressperson from the state of Georgia.

White political pundits have been saying for ten years that McKinney was not wanted. Now white bloggers have picked up the slack.

The white chorus hasn't changed. The trick now seems to be to paint white anti-McKinney opinions as the opinions of the majority of folks in the district. And in the world of white politics I guess this tactic need never bump up against the reality that McKinney continues to be re-elected to office by her district.

Why let reality get in the way of your opinion?

For anyone interested in reality, here is an article with a different take on the congresswoman from Georgia. This one even has facts in it.

as we learned in 2002, if he's not Cynthia, and he is at the right place at the right time, he's viable. It's kinda like giving up cigatettes, the quiting is easy, it's the staying quit that's hard. We can educate the voters enough to vote McKinneys out of office--be they Billy or Cynthia--we just can't seem to keep them out.

According to the SoS website, Hank Johnson qualified for the race.

Of course, I'm sitting here with little knowledge about him and just assuming he's viable ;)

Isn't the main problem here that voters need a viable alternative to Cynthia and qualifying is over in two more days?

We had one in Denise Majette, but she's busy tilting at windmills trying to get elected statewdde.

She has passed the point that her liability carries more weight than her credibility. The people in her district need to elect a representative that is more concerned about them than his or her image.

The possibility that "Taliban Tommy" Delay and Cynthia "Coattail Queen" McKinney could prematurely exit office in the same year has to be one of the few positives of this year. I just hope the possibility turns into a reality.
