What are your top 10 buildings?
Do you have some favorite buildings around town? Midtown, downtown, Decatur, Perimeter wherever: post your Top 10 in the Skyscraper Forum. That same site has some very good threads following developments around town. One, the Atlanta Project thread, covers various rumors and possible developments. Another, the Construction thread, mainly talks about actual ground breaking and buildings rising to the sky. Both are good places to get scoops on what’s going on in the city.
Here are the people’s choice for the top buildings so far: make your vote count!
1. One Atlantic Center
2. 191 Peachtree
3. Bank of America Plaza
4. 1180 Peachtree
5. SunTrust Plaza
6. Westin Peachtree Plaza
7. GLG Grand (Four Seasons)
8. Georgia Pacific
9. Promenade
10. Concourse (king & queen)

A few years ago more of a reference site changed its name to Emporis Buildings. It covers tall buildings across the globe, keeping track of historic structures, those being planned and under-contstruction with lots of photos and statistics. One of my favorite features is when you look up a particular building, the resulting page has links for the surrounding streets so you can easily see all the high-rises along, say, 14th Street or Peachtree.
Ever had trouble remembering where certain buildings or landmarks were? In the spirit of Wikipedia comes a project called Wikimapia that utilizes Google’s mapping API where anyone can lay down placements of physical things and label them. For example here is an aerial view of 191 Peachtree
Cool stuff, huh?
