You must not be from around here. You are dealing with 2nd or 3rd generations of drivers who haven't taken drivers ed, and then go on to "teach" their own children their bad habits. Also many other people from other parts of the country who think they can drive in it, but don't realize how inadeqate Atlanta's 3 snowplows are. Along with the suv people who think they can still go 90 and the natives who think you can't go over 10 on the highway. It's a very good idea to just stay home and enjoy a snow day when we get the bad weather.

Rush hour with ice cream sounds quite lovely. I'm just glad I live within walking distance of a MARTA station.

I have always said that there are multiple issues with driving in winter weather in Atlanta.

#1 - this is ice, not snow...or maybe it's snow that has melted and then frozen over so that it looks like snow, but is actually ice. Either way, you can't really drive on it safely no matter what you do.

#2 - related to #1, lots of SUV drivers who think they can drive the same speed (90+) in all conditions. Note to SUV drivers: If you have no traction, four wheel drive will not help you. At all.

#3 The mix of drivers who are too confident and drivers who are not confident enough is dangerous. Mix someone who wants to go 90 and someone who wants to go 25...add ice and you have a recipe for rush hour disaster a la mode.
